2. The personal data we collect about you

Personal data means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data). You can find out more about personal data on the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) website at ico.org.uk.

We may collect and use the following kinds of personal data about you:

  • Technical and Usage Data: information about how you use our website, such as pages visited, time on site, browser and device type, and approximate location (town or country) based on your IP address. We also use aggregated data, such as the number of visitors to a page. Aggregated data may come from your personal data but is not personal data in law because it does not identify you.

We do not ask for Special Categories of Personal Data through this website (for example, information about your health, ethnicity, religion or political opinions) or information about criminal convictions. Please do not include this information in your enquiries.

If you do not provide personal data

You do not have to give us any personal data to browse this website. If you contact us, we will need your contact details to reply to you. If you choose not to provide them, we may not be able to respond.

If we need to use your data for an unrelated purpose, we will tell you and explain the legal basis that allows us to do so.

Automated decisions and use of artificial intelligence

AI supports, and does not replace, human decision-making in our business.

5. Cookies and website analytics

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: needed for the website to work and to keep it secure. These do not need your consent.
  • Analytics: we use StatCounter to count visits and see how visitors move around our website, so we can improve it. We use this information for statistical purposes only and not for advertising. You can object to this at any time by setting your browser to refuse or delete cookies, or to block tracking. If you have any questions about this, email info@pemec.co.uk.
  • Google Maps: our contact page includes a Google Map so you can find our site. When the map loads, Google may collect Technical Data such as your IP address and may set its own cookies. Google is responsible for this data, and you can read how it uses it at policies.google.com/privacy.

We do not use advertising or marketing cookies.
You can set your browser to refuse all or some cookies, or to alert you when websites set or access cookies. If you disable cookies, some parts of this website may not work properly. Find out more at ico.org.uk/for-the-public/online/cookies.

6. Who we share your personal data with

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:

  • Service providers who support our business, such as our website host and developer, email and IT providers, and our analytics provider (StatCounter). They act on our instructions and may only use your data for the services they provide to us.
  • Professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants, auditors and insurers, where needed.
  • HM Revenue & Customs, regulators and other authorities where the law requires us to.
  • Anyone who buys or merges with all or part of our business. If this happens, the new owner may use your personal data in the way set out in this notice.

We require all third parties to keep your personal data secure and to treat it in line with the law.

7. International transfers

Some of our service providers may store or access your personal data outside the UK. Where this happens, we make sure your data is protected to a standard essentially equivalent to UK law, for example because the country is covered by UK "adequacy" regulations, or because we use the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum. Contact us if you would like more information.

8. Data security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed without permission, altered or disclosed. We limit access to your personal data to employees and service providers who need to know it, and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We have procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and the ICO where we are legally required to do so.

9. Data retention

We only keep your personal data for as long as we need it for the purposes we collected it for, including to meet any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.

To decide how long to keep personal data, we consider how much data there is, what kind of data it is and how sensitive it is, the risk of harm if it were misused, why we are using it and whether we could achieve that another way, and any legal requirements. For example, we keep records of business transactions for at least six years to
meet tax law.

You can ask us to delete your data at any time. See section 10 for more information.

10. Your legal rights

Under data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access: ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: ask us to correct personal data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Erasure: ask us to delete your personal data where there is no good reason for us to keep it.
  • Object: object to us using your data where we rely on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
  • Restriction: ask us to pause using your data, for example while we check its accuracy.
  • Data portability: ask us to send your data to you or another organisation in a commonly used electronic format, where this applies.
  • Withdraw consent: where we rely on your consent, withdraw it at any time. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

To use any of these rights, contact us at info@pemec.co.uk.

No fee usually required

You will not usually have to pay a fee. We may charge a reasonable fee, or refuse to act, if your request is clearly unfounded or excessive.

What we may need from you

We may need to ask for information to confirm your identity before we respond. This is to make sure personal data is not given to anyone who has no right to receive it.

Time limit to respond

We aim to respond within one month. If your request is complex, or you have made several requests, it may take up to two further months. If so, we will let you know and keep you updated.

11. Changes to this notice

This notice was last updated on 22/10/2026. We may update it from time to time and will publish the latest version on this page. Previous versions are available on request.

Please let us know if your personal data changes during your relationship with us, so the information we hold stays accurate.

12. Queries, requests or complaints

If you have any questions about this notice or how we use your personal data, please contact us at info@pemec.co.uk, by phone on +44 (0) 1482 259258, or by post to PEMEC House, Thomas Street, Hull, HU9 1EH.

Complaining to us: if you are unhappy with how we have used your personal data, you have the right to complain to us. Please send your complaint to the contact details above. We will acknowledge it within 30 days, look into it without undue delay, and tell you the outcome.

Complaining to the ICO: you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns first, so please contact us before going to the ICO.
